The Review
This book is 261 pages and first in a trilogy that includes God's Crime Scene and Forensic Faith. What makes this trilogy so unique is that the material covered is from the perspective of a seasoned cold-case homicide detective and former atheist. J. Warner Wallace not only brings a fresh spin to entry level Christian Apologetics but also engages his reader in a way that helps them to think clearly about how they are processing the information that is being presented.
This book focuses on the truth of the Bible, the witnesses contained within, and essentially literary criticism. I found Chapter 8 (Respect the Chain of Custody) to be especially memorable. I have seen this material many times in a historical context, but having it presented as a chain of custody used by the justice system made the concept really jump out at me. Additionally, by comparing the objections of non-Christians as the kinds of objections that a prosecutor would present helps you see how a non-believer may reasonably form their objections..
The writing of this book is excellent. It is simple and straight forward so anyone can get something from reading it. While the material is defiantly entry-level I would highly encourage more advanced apologists and teachers to read this book since it is a treasure trove of colorful examples and ways to explain concepts. Additionally, the illustrations are wonderful. The book is filled with simple line drawings that do an excellent job of conveying and accenting the information being presented.
Cold-case Christianity is a book a highly recommend for your bookshelf...along with its sister books God's Crime Scene and Forensic Faith.
